PRESS RELEASE

FLOTILLA 33 MEMBER NAMED COAST GUARD AUXILIARY NATIONAL DIVISION CHIEF

Jim Thomas, a member of United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 33, has recently been named Division Chief of Information Systems Officer Support on the Auxiliary National Staff.  As part of the Information Technology Directorate, Thomas and staff are responsible for maintaining the mission hours and activities of over 30,000 Auxiliarists throughout the Nation.

In addition to National Staff Members in the Information Systems Division, Thomas oversees 16 District, 162 Division, and 839 Flotilla Information Systems Officers who collect, review, and enter member activity reports into the Auxiliary data base. The U.S. Coast Guard uses the resulting reports on hours and activities to show the level of support the Auxiliary provides to the Coast Guard and recreational boating public. In 2013 alone the Auxiliary provided nearly 4.25 million hours of mission support.

“We are proud to have Jim promoted to Division Chief from his former position as Branch Assistant”, commented Ed Hind, Flotilla Commander.  “It is a reflection of his dedicated service to the Coast Guard and Auxiliary since 1998 and recognition of his valuable contribution.”

Thomas, in addition to being a past Flotilla 33 Commander, has also served as Division 3 Captain and is currently the 5th District Southern Region Information Systems Staff Officer.
